How to Download & Print Images (JPEG & PNG)
Module Introduction: In this module, we’ll cover the full process for images: from finding and saving them on the internet to printing them perfectly on your Epson L121.
Lesson 3.1: How to Download Images (JPEG & PNG) from the Web
Before you can print an image from the internet, you need to save it to your computer. This process is called downloading.
Step-by-Step Guide to Downloading:
-
Find Your Image: Using your web browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge), navigate to the webpage with the image you want to download.
-
Right-Click the Image: Move your mouse cursor directly over the image you want. Press the right mouse button. A context menu will pop up.
-
Save the Image: Look for an option that says “Save image as…” or “Save picture as…”. Click it.
-
Visual Cue: Show a screenshot of a web browser with an image, the right-click menu open, and the “Save image as…” option highlighted.
-
Choose a Location: A “Save As” window will appear. This lets you choose where to save the file on your computer.
-
For Beginners: The Desktop or the Downloads folder are great, easy-to-find places.
-
File name: You can give the image a new name if you like.
-
Save as type: This shows you what kind of file it is (e.g., JPEG, PNG). You don’t usually need to change this.
-
-
Click Save: Click the “Save” button. The image is now on your computer, ready to be printed!
-
Visual Cue: Show a screenshot of the “Save As” window, pointing out the location panel (Desktop/Downloads), the “File name” box, and the “Save” button.
A Quick Note on Copyright and Quality:
-
Copyright: Be mindful that many images online are copyrighted. Only download and print images that you have permission to use. Websites with “free” or “royalty-free” stock photos are a good source.
-
Quality: Images on websites are often low-resolution to load quickly. They might look good on screen but appear blurry or “pixelated” when printed. For best results, try to find the highest-quality version of an image available.
