Tutorial: How to Clear Your Printer Queue in Windows

Cancel stuck print jobs and reset your printer queue using built-in Windows tools — including manual spooler reset if needed.
What You’ll Need
- Windows PC
- Access to printer settings
- Admin rights (for spooler reset)
- (Optional) File Explorer access to system folders
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Access the Print Queue
- Press
Windows + Ito open Settings - Go to Devices → Printers & scanners
- Select your printer and click Open queue
- Press
- Cancel Individual Print Jobs
- In the queue window, right-click the stuck job
- Select Cancel
- Clear the Entire Queue
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers
- Right-click your printer → See what’s printing
- Right-click inside the queue → Cancel all documents
- Restart the Print Spooler (if needed)
- Press
Windows + R, typeservices.msc, and hit Enter - Find Print Spooler in the list
- Right-click → Stop
- Open File Explorer and go to:
C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS - Delete all files in this folder
- Return to Services → Right-click Print Spooler → Start
- Press

- Always try canceling jobs before resetting the spooler
- Make sure no print jobs are active before deleting spool files
- Restart your printer after clearing the queue for best results
