Troubleshooting – flashing ink droplet light on the printer
Troubleshooting – Printer lights are flashing.
Cause: This almost always means the ink priming process failed or was interrupted. The printer’s print head has no ink in it, so it cannot print.
Error Indication: The most common sign is a flashing ink droplet light on the printer. Your computer might also display an error message like “Service Required.”
How to Fix It (Manual Ink Charge):
You can force the printer to charge the ink using a utility called “Power Ink Flushing.”
-
Go to your computer’s Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
-
Right-click on your Epson L121 printer icon and select “Printing Preferences.”
-
Navigate to the “Maintenance” tab.
-
Click on the “Power Ink Flushing” button.
-
A warning will appear, telling you that this process will consume a lot of ink. This is expected. Click “OK” or “Start” to proceed.
-
The printer will now begin the aggressive cleaning and ink-charging cycle. This will take several minutes. Do not turn off the printer.
-
Once complete, it’s a good idea to run a “Nozzle Check” (from the same Maintenance tab) to print a test pattern and confirm that all colors are now printing correctly.
