Cleaning your nozzles on a L121

  1. Make sure the Epson L121 printer is powered on and connected to your computer.
  2. On your computer, open the Control Panel (Windows) or System Preferences (Mac).
  3. Navigate to Devices and Printers (Windows) or Printers & Scanners (Mac).
  4. Select your Epson L121 printer and open the Printing Preferences or Utility tab.

Step 2: Perform a Nozzle Check

  1. In the printer utility window, select Nozzle Check.
  2. The printer will print a test pattern of colored lines.
  3. Review the printout:
    • Good result: All lines are complete with no gaps.
    • Poor result: Lines are broken or missing, indicating clogged nozzles.

Step 3: Clean the Print Heads

If the nozzle check shows gaps:

  1. In the printer utility, select Head Cleaning.
  2. Wait while the printer performs the cleaning cycle (this may take a few minutes).
  3. After cleaning, run another Nozzle Check.
  4. Repeat the cleaning process if necessary (up to 3 times). Note: Excessive cleaning uses ink, so avoid repeating more than 3 cycles in a row.

Step 4: Confirm Results

  • If the nozzle check pattern is clear, the printer is ready for use.
  • If problems persist after multiple cleanings:
    • Turn off the printer and wait for several hours before trying again.
    • Ensure you are using genuine Epson ink.
    • Contact Epson support if issues continue.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use the printer regularly to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles.
  • Keep the printer in a dust-free environment.
  • Always use recommended Epson ink for the L121 model.

Outcome: Following these steps will help restore print quality and keep your Epson L121 printer functioning smoothly.
